Pakistan Successfully Launches Remote Sensing Satellite from China in Historic Space Mission
Pakistan launched a new remote sensing satellite from China’s Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in collaboration with SUPARCO, CETC, and MICROSAT China, marking a milestone in its space technology program.

Pakistan Successfully Launches Remote Sensing Satellite from China
Pakistan has taken a major leap in space technology with the successful launch of a new remote sensing satellite from China’s Xichang Satellite Launch Centre (XSLC) on July 31, 2025. The mission was led by SUPARCO, Pakistan's national space agency, in partnership with China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC) and MICROSAT China.
The satellite was carried into orbit aboard a Kuaizhou-1A rocket, launched from the southwest Chinese province of Sichuan. This marks the 29th flight of the Kuaizhou-1A series, known for its quick deployment and reliability in small satellite launches.
Advancing Space Capabilities
According to Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this satellite launch is a strategic milestone in strengthening the country’s capabilities in earth observation, environmental monitoring, and disaster management. The high-resolution data from the satellite will also assist in urban planning, agriculture, water resource management, and national security applications.
The collaboration reflects deepening technological cooperation between Pakistan and China, particularly in the domain of space research and satellite manufacturing.
SUPARCO’s Expanding Role
SUPARCO (Space & Upper Atmosphere Research Commission) has been leading Pakistan’s space missions since its establishment. This launch follows previous successful deployments of communication and observation satellites, as Pakistan continues to strengthen its presence in the global space community.
With international partnerships and advancements in indigenous technology, SUPARCO aims to enhance national capabilities in space science and satellite data services for both civilian and defense applications.
Strategic Partnership with China
China’s support in this project underlines the strong Pakistan-China strategic partnership, especially in high-tech sectors. CETC and MICROSAT China provided both launch capabilities and technical expertise, ensuring the success of the mission.
This launch reinforces the two countries’ shared commitment to peaceful use of space technology and opens doors for future joint missions, including communication satellites, space research, and even deeper exploration.
Looking Ahead
Pakistan’s successful launch of the remote sensing satellite not only reflects technological growth but also its vision for sustainable development and self-reliance in space applications. As satellite imagery and data become increasingly vital in shaping national policy and infrastructure, this mission is a critical step forward.
